Hi Diane, Thank you for choosing smarTrike for your grandson! Enjoy this wonderful time as he learned how to balance and ride his first bike. Regards, the smarTrike team
My opinion, don't use stabilizers!
I see a lot of parents here asking about stabilizers. I taught my 3 children to ride a bike, and I never used stabilizers. They're just counter-productive. They don't teach children how to balance, they make the bike less agile, they only teach kids bad cycling habits, they can't be used on uneven ground in addition to being ugly and noisy. Stabiliser graduates still have to learn the primary skill – balancing – with a sudden transition from being supported to unsupported, which can result in wobbles, crashes and loss of confidence. Don't use them, don't need them.
